I have this thing (call it neuroses or whatever) where if I can eat something with a spoon, then I will/must. Like hot chocolate, chai tea, blended coffee drinks, and of course…..smoothies. I realize that for most people, it’s kind of the norm to use a straw or just drink from a cup, but something about consuming these items with a spoon just forces me to slow down for a second and really savor the given concoction.

So, when I stumbled upon my first smoothie bowl recipe (which is kind of a trendy thing now actually), I was pretty pleased with the whole idea. Because here was something that, when called by one name (i.e. smoothie), you’re generally supposed to drink it. BUT, change the name, add some toppings, throw it in a bowl, and voila! You’ve created something that for all intents and purposes is a smoothie, but that you are 100% allowed to eat by society’s standards.

And basically, that just gives me the advantage of seeming slightly less weird than I really am… :p
